Project Finals

Final #1

Workflow for  design project final #1: Date___08/17/11__
           SUHSD Digital Media Showcase

Workspace Preparation:

¯ I set up a new document and made it 1024x768 with transparency.
¯ Next I took out all my necessary pictures, starting with the flowers first, then wings, kids, and some butterflies.
¯ I then, arranged them in a neat order, so as to not confuse myself.
¯   Next I started to work!

Creation Process Beginning Steps:

¯ I decided to start with the picture of the yellow flowers first , so I put a layer mask on it( layer-add layer mask- hide all) and took out everything else except the flower itself.
¯ Next, I started copying that same flower and placed them all around the document, so as to cover any empty space. If there were any spaces i spray colored it with a greyish color so as to blend in with flowers.
¯ Then I moved onto the picture of the wings, I layered mask all of them and I carefully took out anything that wasn’t the wings itself.
¯ Once that was done I went to the pictures of the little kids and repeated the same process that I did with the previous pictures. Then I was finally ready to start arranging them.

Creation Process Continued:

¯ I decided to place the little girls after the flowers in the document and made them either smaller or bigger depending on the location I placed them in. ( to make the image smaller or lager I went to edit-transform-scale).
¯ Next it was time to put in the wings, this took me a while to see what kind of wings would suite the child most. There were each original and I wanted the wings to match the originality of the child.I chose each wing specifically for each kid.
¯ I made sure that the wings were placed in the right angle, depending on the way the kids were facing. ( edit-transform-rotate).
¯ Next came the butterflies, I did the same process I did with the other pictures and placed the flowers either on top of a flower or flying around

Creation Process Finalized:

¯ I went to see whether any picture had any white or background color from their original picture.
¯  Erased any unnecessary parts.
¯ Sometimes rearranged the order the layers were put on top of one another. So the image could look better.
¯ And finally once I was satisfied with the way the picture looked I saved it.

Publication Process:

¯  I saved the document as Jpeg.
¯ Posted it on my blog into “Project Finals”.

Commennts

When making new layers it would be helpful to name that layer specifically.
Otherwise you can get confused with other layers that look exactly alike.
It is also very useful when you are arranging them in a different order than how they were originally.
Also zooming in a picture helps with taking out anything you don’t want that is very hard to see.

Reflection

_In this picture I wanted to create a fairytale place where there were fairies and children just having fun and enjoying life. Unlike the real world where there are many children in the world starving or being mistreated. I wanted to create a utopia feeling like place.
The title of this piece is “innocence"

Workspace Preparation:

¯ _Set it by a 1024x768_
¯ _Resolution 72 pixels/inch_
¯ _Finally set it up to transparent._

Creation Process Beginning Steps:

¯ _First I made a new layer and then started to type out my name. I typed it out using the font ‘Showcard gothic’.
¯ _Next I got my grass picture and set it to a new layer, then put it as overlay, and placed it over my name.
¯ _Then I started to erase anything that wasn’t my name. Using the letters in the background as my outline, I started to delete any unnecessary parts of grass.
¯ _Next I added some effects; Drop Shadow: Blend Mode-multiply, Opacity – 100%, Angle-45degrees, Distance-18 px, Spread -0%, Size-5px, Noise-0%, Layer knocks out drop shadow-check.__

Creation Process Continued:

¯ _Once that was finished I then proceeded with my next word which was ‘Nerdy’. I typed it using the font called ‘wST_Swed’.Next I started to add some effects; Outer Glow; Blending Mode-multiply, Opacity-100%, Noise-100%, Color #DCDC17, Technique-Softer,Spread-0%,Size-0px, Range 25%, Jitter-0%.
¯ _Next came the effect Bevel Emboss (with Texture); Style-Pillow emboss, Technique-smooth, Depth-100%,Direction-up, Size-32px, Softner-4px, Angle-45 and 39 degrees, Highlight Mode-screen, Opacity-33%,Shadow Mode-multiply , Opacity 61%._

¯ _My next word I chose was ‘Childish’; I typed it using the same font as my name (Showcard gothic). Next effects; Drop Shadow: Blend Mode-multiply, Opacity-59%Angle-45 degrees (using global light), Distance-5px, Spread 0%, Size-5px, noise-0%( angle knocks out  drop shadow).
¯ The next effect was Inner shadow with the same settings as the previous effect. The effect Bevel Emboss; Style-inner bevel, Technique-smooth, Depth-100%,Direction-up, Size-24px, Soften-0px, Angle-45 and 39 degrees, Highlight Mode-screen, Opacity-75%, Shadow Mode-multiply,Opacity-75%.
¯ The last effect settings that I used for ‘childish’ was the effect Stroke; Size-5px, Position- outside, Blend Mode-normal, Opacity-100%, Fill Type-color #956161. And Finally I made the Font arch in a fish style.

¯ _Next thing I did was type in the word ‘smart’ using the font named ‘Rockweld’.I then chose the effect named Drop Shadow; Blending Mode-dissolve, Opacity-80%, Angle – 45 degrees, Distance -83px,Spread-11%,Size-3px,Noise-23%( Layer knocks out drop shadow)
¯ Next effect I used was inner shadow; Blend Mode-multiply, Opacity-61%, Angle-45 degrees, distance-14px, Choke-0%, Size-0px, Noise-0%.
¯ Next effect settings was Bevel Emboss ( with Texture); Style-inner bevel, Technique-smooth, Depth-100%, Direction- up, Size-5px, Softner-0px,Angle-45 and 39 degrees, Highlight Mode- screen,  Opacity-75%, Shadow Mode- multiply, Opacity-75%.
¯ _Afterwards I made the word ‘shy’ using the font ‘Ravie’. Next I used the text effect setting, Bevel Emboss( with texture); Style-inner bevel, Technique-smooth, Depth-100%, Direction-up, Size-5px, Soften-0px, Angle-45 and 39 degrees, Highlight Mode-screen, Opacity-75%, Shadow Mode-multiply, Opacity-75%.Blend Mode-multiply, Opacity-56%, Angle-129degrees, Distance-37px, Size-21px, Countour-invert,Color Overlay; Blend Mode-dissolve, Color #DA8787, Opacity-73%, Gradient Overlay and Pattern overlay
¯ My next word is ‘creative’. I used the following effect settings; Drop Shadow: Blend Mode-multiply, Opacity-75%, Angle-45degrees, Distance-57px, Spread-0%, Size-5px, Noise-0, layer knocks out drop shadow.Bevel and emboss; style-inner bevel , Technique-smooth, Depth-100%, Direction-up, Size-5px, Softner-0px, Angle-45 and 39 degrees, Highlight Mode-screen, Opacity-75%, Shadow Mode-multiply, Opacity-75%.Stroke; Size-3px, position-outside, Blend Mode-normal, Opacity-100%, Color #FF0000.
¯ _Last but not least was I typed in my last word ‘Lazy’. With the following Effect settings; Outer Glow: Blend Mode-dissolve, Opacity-86%, Noise-0%, Color #0A0E0D, Technique-softer, Spread-50%, Size-13px, Range-100%, Jitter-21%

Creation Process Finalized:

¯ Well, I decided how I wanted to arrange my words. I decided to make my name in the middle, in big letters and the rest of the words around it.
¯I wanted to make my choices of words in order from the best ones that describe me to the bottom words that describe me but not as much as the top words.

Publication Process:

¯ I added in my name a shadow behind the words to make it pop up in a way, and made the rest of the words in different volume.
¯Using the text arch I made ‘childish’ look in the shape of a fish
¯ Another thing that I did was make ‘creative’ a shadow as well but not as dark as the shadow on my name was.
¯ The last thing that I did was choosing the best way to curve or make bigger the words to take as much space as possible. Making it look big and full, without so many white spaces.

Comments

_This time I made the grass type my name for my name, making it seem bigger and catch the attention. Another thing that I wanted was to try to make each words effect different and sort of define the word too. For example ‘creative’ I made it seem and look creative’. For ‘childish’ I wanted to make the word with the font that looked and defined childish.

reflection

_In this Text Final I chose 6 different words that defined me and also include my name. I had chosen the words lazy, nerdy, childish, creative, shy and smart. I wanted to make each word different and using the font that sort of “defined” each word. I wanted to be as creative as possible when I was making this tutorial, using everything I learned in the websites tutorials. And I also added a few things myself to make things different. I pretty much used different bits of pieces form what I learned and made something totally new and creative. I title this piece “all about me”.

Workspace Preparation:

¯ _Used the magazine template size  __
¯ _Prepared all the pictures I got from the internet___
¯ _Prepared many layers ___

Creation Process Beginning Steps:

¯ _First I took out one of my pictures labled “ black background”, made 18 copies of it and with each copy made one word or number with a different kind of text and made a box around the letter or number, until I spelled out “ 2011 Volleyball team”._
¯ _Next I arranged the words around till it made sense but also looked a bit messy. _
¯ _Next thing I did was choose 3 of my best pictures of volleyball players that I got from the internet and placed them behind a picture of a “ splash mark” ( I also got from the internet ). Started to erase whatever I didn’t need of the picture to form the splash mark effect. _

Creation Process Continued:

¯  Once I rased all the unnecessary part of the picture I started to work on the effect, I used: Drop Shadow; blend mode-multiply, opacaity-100%,Angle- 120 degrees, Distance-20px, spread-0%, size-5px. Next effect was Inner Shadow; ( same settings as Drop Shadow). Last effect was Bevel and Emboss; style-inner bevel, technique-smooth, Depth-100%, direction-up, size-84px, soften-8px, Angle-120 and 30, highlight mode-screen, opacity-75%.
¯ __Used the same process with the rest of my pictures, effects and all the same, next thing I did was use the color # 00BFFF for the school color blue and the color #FFD700 for yellow. Made the blue layer first and erased from side to side to create the border decoration and the same thing for the yellow.
¯ _next thing I did was getting to work on the captions below the pictures I used, I decided to use the same splash effect that I did with the three other pictures and the same effect. I then typed about the hard working volleyball team of 2011 in the splash. I did the same thing for the captions underneath the pictures. __

Creation Process Finalized:

¯ Finally I erased any unnecessary pictures or things that weren’t needed and organized the pictures around along with its captions.

Publication Process:

¯_checked all my layers for any errors,____________________
¯___saved it to my file and as a jpg as well and put it into my blogger.___
Comments
_I always made sure to take away any unnecessary layers that were no longer needed and It also helped to not “ see” ( by clicking the little eye in the corner of the layer) whenever you only wanted to focus on one thing at a time it helped to organize yourself a little._

reflection

__This yearbook page was made for 2011 volleyball team of san Ysidro High school. I wanted it to look creative and organized with the splash marks I made. Each letter and number was a different font, it took me a very long time to organize each letter and to make a black box around each letter or number around it. I tried to be as creative as possible with the pictures and effects on the yearbook page.
